The Underwood Lockhouse Restaurant Reinstatement
CD Architects are delighted to announce that we have now submitted a Planning Application for the reinstatement of The Underwood Lockhouse Restaurant in Falkirk. The proposals aim to reinstate the fire damaged restaurant and re-establish the restaurant as a destination on the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The existing front facade is key to the design, defining the character of the site and its relationship to the canal. It is proposed that the retention of the facade will support a reinstatement of the restaurant to the rear, rationalizing the previous layout for a more efficient use of space. A contemporary extension will also be added to support the restaurant, incorporating existing proportions of the front facade and utilising traditional materials in a contemporary composition.
